Updating Streaming Links for Apps and Livio

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Changed your streaming links? Here’s how to update your stream information for the various mobile apps out there, and also the Livio NPR radio.

The PRX PRP Public Radio Player iPhone App.
Go to http://www.publicradioplayer.org/?page_id=80
and update your stream link information.

NPR News iPhone app, NPR Android app, NPR Livio Radio:
These two pull stream information from NPR Station Connect (https://www.nprstations.org/ NOTE: be sure to use the m3u stream link), so they’re calling the same stream URL.)

NPR News app:
This one also pulls a tiny bit of information from us. Let us know at help AT ds.npr.org

HINT: When entering your stream info into NPR Station Connect or with PRX, please use the url ending in .m3u.

Why do you have to update information in so many places? Long story. We know it’s a pain, and we’re working on it.

Streaming Costs Reduced!

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

We are excited to announce that we are going to reduce our streaming service fees from 10-40% starting April 1, 2010.

Current customers: If you’re thinking about increasing your stream quality (the bit rate, e.g 32kbps, 64kbps, etc.) or increasing your listener capacity to avoid or reduce your overage (the streaming pack, e.g.  100 concurrent listeners, 200 max concurrent, etc.), now is a good time to consider making that change. Contact Suzanne Brendle for more information.

New customers: Why Public Interactive Streaming?

  • Reliability: Through our partnership with one of the world’s largest CDNs (Content Delivery Network) we are able to provide unmatched reliability through a global and redundant infrastructure of interconnecting servers around the world
  • Flexibility: With our Live Streaming, your audience can access the highest quality streaming signal in multiple formats on your stations website.  And if you are in streaming in MP3 format, you are now able to broadcast your signal to the ever-increasing iPhone audience!
