Google Analytics, Traffic Reporter and You

Should you use Google Analytics? YES. Do we mind? Of course not.

Google Analytics measures many things that our custom Traffic Reporter doesn’t, has more fun features overall, and is widely used. And it’s free. It’s hard to argue with that.

We recommend that you use Google Analytics primarily, with Traffic Reporter for those few things GA doesn’t handle.

We can add your Google Analytics tracking code to your Platform and module pages, just email that to us at help AT ds.npr.org.

Don’t know if you have an account? Ask us. Want us to set one up for you? We’re happy to, just ask us.

NOTE: We set up Google Analytics reports for all Public Platform clients, just ask us and we’ll grant you access, all we need is a gmail address.

Now, it’s true, Traffic Reporter, does measure a few select things Google Analytics doesn’t. Google Analytics does NOT count or include the following:

  • Pulse/Quick Pledge tracking options
  • Podcast Downloads
  • JukeBox Podcast Page Views (not so useful)
  • Automated No Code Feed Counts/Views (again, not really so useful)
